Erase-in-Eraser
Anyone else heard about this new tech by the boys in HK? Mind-blowing. I'm hearing about CKF breaking 2'54'' on Akina DH.
(Quoting from Townranger on Gamefaqs)
With any luck today I saw CKF doing his TA on Akina DH with his 86. The "eraser-the-eraser" technique he used is what I think swordheart has mentioned but I would like to create a new topic on that.
What the Akina DH god did is double eraser. Double meaning not just eraser twice at a time but eraser at different decelerating distance before, say for example, the first hairpin in CP1. He approached the corner very early from mid to in and eraser the first time with the wheel twisted towards the hairpin. This is to be done very early so as to save some more distance for a feint. His preparation for the hairpin is earlier than ours probably. He then flipped the car all in a sudden along the direction opposite the hairpin and when he positioned out, he steered towards the apex and earser the second time. Entering the hairpin, the line is perfectly in and out.
In brief, mid-eraser(steering towards hairpin)-in-out-eraser(steering towards hairpin)-in(get the apex)-out.
I added a diagram to illustrate that:
(0=car [going from down to up], ...=road, |,/,_=wall)
xxxxxxx_____
xxxxx/
xxx/
x/ ............0........___
|...........0........../
|.......0.........../ Aim at the apex
|....0.........../
|.0.............|
|.0.............| Very sharp feint and
|....0..........| 2nd eraser here
|.......0.......|
|...........0...|
|...........0...|
|.........0.....| 1st eraser here
|.......0.......|
|.......0.......|
|.......0.......|
|.......0.......|
|.......0.......|
|.......0.......|
I tried that with my Evo4 and I found the car tends to slide more but I'm too clumsy... But one thing, this eraser-the-earser technique is THEORETICALLY slowing you down because you have to run a longer line. Anyway, I'll be looking at it deeply later.
Back to it, CKF did a regular 2'55"2 to 2'56"5 during his 20 plays. I can't believe my eys...
Endquote.
Woah.

This shit is like TST except its not doing two erasers before the feint. The TST is like a "strafe" this is like an INERTIA DRIFT.
