-- The ONLY fighting game at EC (http://kishu.ca/forums/showthread.php?threadid=1062)

The ONLY fighting game at EC

is now MvC2.

SC2 is gone and they replaced it with MvC2. Thats right, MvC2...

that means there are TWO MvC2 cabinets at EC now and no other fighting game.

yeah thats true they make alot of money off fighting games and that damn DDR

EC are idiots. Capcom vs SNK 2? Then Soul Calibur II? No more Virtua Fighter 4 either, by the sounds of it? Fighting games MADE arcades damnit >=O This is an outrage >.>

If there were any justice, you'd still be able to play games like Garou, CvS2, SFA3, SF3:TS, etc...

arcades period are dying, I mean think about it. why play a game at an arcade for x ammount an hour (however much it works out to be) when you can play over the net with whatever works for you. weather that be xbox live, ps2 online, gamecube can go online as well.... its pretty shitty but the truth

I guess its just the lifestyles.
People in North America are more towards home consoles and computer games.
Asia people are more of an arcade player.
Just cultural i guess

North Americans are just lazy. "Stand while I play video games? Go out of my house? Why bother?" Not to mention, arcades don't do much to bring people in - Games are still fairly expensive to play, and like in EC's case, they're getting rid of ones that people do play... I know like 3 regulars who only went to EC for CvS2, as a small example.

Arcades are about the competition. A joystick is an entirely different realm than a d-pad or analog thumbstick. Going and battling with other "humans" is what it's all about. Sure you can go with online fighting games, but that's far less personal than an arcade.

I'm hoping that Tekken 5, with the ability to bring your own PS2 controller to use on the game as well as the card system, restores a little originality and popularity of arcades. At least a tiny bit. That might hoping for a lot though.
