Congratulations. I was excited when I got my first car too
btw, you spelled "suspension" and "assume", wrong. Just incase you missed em.
As for a "speed chip"? I don't think you'll get 20 HP, and a decent muffler (ie non-ebay) will run a lot more than 30. Car exterior and interior is in good condition, should be a good car to practice standard with. How many HP? Torque? FF I'm assuming...
http://rocky.rgamers.com/pics/car/car.htm <-- mine if you're bored. haven't updated in like forever, though. My car is pending a little more work; no "mods" planned for a while.

good first project car, but a few things:
- to make it non-rice, racing seats, cheap muffler, steering wheel...wont help you.
- The racing chip wont help you, the ebay ones are there to rip you off. ( Think a standalone system, ie AEM or Apexi power fc, hell, even an apexi piggy back controller (S-AFC) costs more than 300, plus you reall need to know what you are doing to get the most out of it)
- rim/tyres? good luck finding anything for 70bucks... a used set of steeliers cost more than 70 bucks...
It looks like a decent car that holds up nicely, but it goes a long way to mod a car ( I know first hand). My advice is use it as a get around car and know how to drive probably, learn the basics and go from there.

each rim would be about 70 dollars lol... not to mention set.. -.- and thats if you install yourself. flywheel will be expensive to have installed, the list can go on, you underprice alot of that stuff.

teh noooooooob = me
welcome to the wonderful world of small car tuning ^_^
i to drive a small car, a 92 Swift gti just like your 323 very light car
1700 lbs with me in it lol and is equiped with a 1.3 dual overhead cam engine
now i know what most think 1,3!!!! wow its like a lawn mower lol
well i have heard that from many. such as civic crx integra and other such cars
and in the end i leave them eating my dust:P
all i can say about your car is Number 1 GET A TACH!! if you plan on racing it will help determine your best shift point ^_^
also my biggest peice of advice is simply this, the little things mean alot to small cars.
high end spark plugs and wires, i recommend NGK i use them and have never did me wrong, wires from same.
buy maximizing your spark your engine will misfire less and if you increase your power and fuel the spark plugs will be very important
also with such a light car tires are key if you cant get rims dont worry about it right away (i still dont have them) but you should get really good tires. the cars lightness needs the best way of getting grip it can, it will also help with handling.
ok and if you are going to go flow wise going full flow is the best advise i can give in that area. if you get an intake and exhaust your are 2-3 of the way there little known is headers are important. they let all that extra exhaust from the motor get past a major bottle neck that stock headers have
i went full flow on my swift and it cost me about 700 in the end and my exhaust is custom from germany, also with the exhaust make sure that you get your piping widened, not only will it make your car sound better (less high pitched, well for a small car lol)
it will also lessen exhaust restriction. all these things will give a small car about 15-20 hourses which is ALOT for such a small car.
these are basic mods that can make your car run ALOT faster then before and surprise many you come to the line with.
if you want to go farther such as cams gears turbo etc. thats alot more money.
if you can i notice your tires are very thin (just to add to above) try and get wider ones ^_^ will help handling and traction (durr)
suspension wise front and rear sway bars help alot and are pertty cheap like 75 a peice and a huge change will be felt.
alot less body roll.
again if you want to lower / change camber angle/ stiffen shockes and such things it gets again into bigger money.
hmm what else
ahh yes
wieght = speed , make it lighter= make it faster
take your back seats out (if you dont use them) mine are still in for that reason
stereo wise, a single 12x will do AMAZING in a small hatch back, trust me my infinity rocks my car
all in all a little means alot, so try and get the most you can for your money ^_^
with all the mods i have suggested my car went from stock 100 hp
and 75 torque to 130 hp and 105 torque and lowered my 1/4 mile from high 16 to high 14-low 15
and i have seen very fast 323's, i used to be rivals with one back in Ontario
so do your best ^_^ and i hope i was able to help

whats going on>?
remember your car is n/a, u need some backpressure, so don't let the exhaust go over 2.5 inches. 100 lbs is about .1 faster int he 1/4 mile. when u decide to buy a standalone, which one u buy will depend mainly on wat the tuner in your area tunes. to drive faster first is invest in track time. breathing mods are cheap so u can do them. invest in tires, then brakes. that is wat people will generally tell you.
there is no replacement for displacement. if your 1.3L was a rotary then it might be different, but it is not. i think wat you consider ALOT faster and wat normal people consider ALOT faster is different. sorry, i do not think beating civic's and integra's are something to brag about. wat you should mention about your swift gti is the all independent suspension. and 4 wheel disc brakes. and for your car's weight, i think you mean 1700 lbs WITHOUT you unless you did a LOT of weight reduction considering the car's stock curb weight is 1780 lbs. then u weight wat? 200? your car isn't bad, but there are cars that a cheaper to make quick. btw i don't consider your car's current state quick. this is based on your 1/4 mile. you can have fun in a car that isn't fast or even quick, but get off your high horse. i admit my car is slow.

since you guys are giving him advices, here are osme of mine.
if you wanna go fast, number one on your list should be a swap:
your SOHC is worthless, swap in a B6T from a 323 GTX (I have one in the shop if you want! ) A stock B6T on stock boost should give you sufficient power to rip other cars apart.
a nice set of light 15 wheels will add to performance and look. With some decent rubber like es100 or 712 you will be well on your way.
suspension wise I dont know what available for your car, but a good set of spring (no cheapass dropzone or other pos they sell on ebay). with some decent tokico struts and it'll be fine.
btw: a free-flow exhast will not help you, a small 1.3L needs backpressure. and remember:
Horsepower = MONEY!!! dont cheap out.
and Swift-FC, do u own a turbo swift? if not please prove your low 15 - high 14 1/4 time. A boosted sohc ek runs a similar time. and 130HP on a 1700 I dont think it'll manage... for all the mods you said you have, a 30 hp 20tq increase is a joke, a free-flowing exhaust DOES NOT give you an extra 15 hp, dont trust what you read on ads and shit

a month ago swift said his car weighted 1600 lbs. so within a month his car dropped 100 lbs so that it weights 1700 lbs with him. even though it seems over the course of the month it seems to have got heavier with him. it sure sounds like it had a turbo because of how great it responds to a simple exhaust mod i doubt he ever dyno'd his car. but i am sure he can do the low 15 and high 14............with boost on haha.
why should i change my password??
