Proper jump
ok, i was just watching Initial D the movie(3rd stage) and they showed the jumps in the 86 vs SW20. Now theres 2 things on this race, well...question first, whats the proper way to actually jump on irohazaka? cuz i dno if u should do it like the movie or just go straight to the gap once u see it, what they did was they drifted, took the inside, the jump was right infront of him... i dno what they did than cuz his tire like got a sudden acceleration and just blasted...the SW20 car went flying over top the either one. And also, they showed on one of the last turns b4 the first tunnel, Takumi used the gutter technique, anyone know if there really is a gutter there?

There is no gutter.
The jumps, you want to slow down and gas through them then slow down for the next one.

Go from the outside, cut the jump as much as fscking possible without hitting anything, then you'll be on the outside lane.. stay there for the next jump, repeat until finished. That's for the 2nd through 5th jumps. You can take them under 80 or 90, it won't hurt you. (razor-sama says: less distance travelled = faster times even if your speed is a bit lower). (i think) XD

Hits are bad no matter what, especially on the jumps -- since jumps are already at lowered speeds, you don't want to lose any more speed than you have to, plus hits will mess up your flow.

hits occur when u either turn too early or start turning too late on Iro. In the jump I just stay on 4 til I approach it and depending on whether I jump full or not I either gear down break and jump or just gear down in out release and jump though I find braking easier for now

Go download some movies of people playing (can get some off kishu IRC for example) and use those as examples ^_^
Basically, do what you can do best and what gets you fastest times... then work on improvising and improving that technique.

hmm, any suggestions on how to do the jumps with an RX-8? I can take them perfectly in my evo averaging speeds around 60-70 but i have no idea how to do it with an RX8, hell im faster going around the damn jump. I try to take it in 4th gear, it, wont turn even with full off gas and brake, i try to take it in 3rd gear, it will only turn with full off gas but im going 30-40 kms/h...
