My East Asian Tour
Well its been almost a year since my Japan, Hong Kong, Vancouver trip and I havn't written about it.
Well it started off with us driving to Vancouver and staying with family friends. My first extended road trip in the van with my family. It was pretty comfortable, everyone could drive so not too bad. The forest fires made us deteur.
Vancouver is cool.
Family friend's kid was into ID, he came up with "moving the wheel back and forth" cause it "makes the revs go higher".
Man I wish I had these skills back then... I'd take all the records haha.
My cousin at the time was in his own business. He had his own office with lackies and everything!
They sold laptops, so late at night after I'm done gaming it up I would head to his office and beat all the guys there at StarCraft hahaha.
Japan
Kicks major freaking ass.
The only thing: Airports for foreigners, when you get off the plane RUN to the passport checking, otherwise you line up for an hour or so.
Tokyo, I basically wandered alone at night, you don't need transit or anything. Theres this underground subway thats really just tunnels to anywhere in the DownTown area. Above ground at night was beautiful, the parks people were playing with fire rods or whatever, it was amazing. Temperature was delightful! I stayed at the downtown .... something, it had a Circle traffic stop near it. Skylines are everywhere, Evolutions in real life... O M G.
Hong Kong
I'm sitting in the room I have to share with my sister. One night she started sneezing, turning red, coughing a lot. Basically a fever. And you all remember why nobody went to HK right? SARS baby! My mom was like just sleep don't worry, she only has a fever. I'm thinking if those aren't symptoms of SARS WTF IS?!??!?!?!?!
So basically I spent that night wide awake thinking about life, death and my girlfriend at the time, Jen.
More later, going to bed.

I heard crime is like super low in Japan, is that true? Someone once told me you could practically leave your wallet on the kitchen table in plain view, and go to bed leaving the door open, and it wouldn't be stolen. Just curious.

"If there is such a thing as a natural talent for driving, it just means that the person will improve a little bit faster than everyone else. There's no such thing as an innate talent that overcomes repeated effort and practice... Do you understand Daiki, Sakai? Winning and losing is a matter of how experienced you are."

Tokyo, Arcades
It was funny because my friend along the whole tour was going around asking random ppl where Initial D was? Then he got fed up and asked the tour guide how to say it in Japanese. The tour guide didn't understand his rapid english so I had to explain it in chinese to him.
When we get to Tokyo, MAN you have to find a meter where there ISN'T an arcade. Frik man... they got everything except the game I was looking for, Marvel vs Capcom 2. I knew the Japanese had no interest in that game for the most part, the top elite still made crazy videos but thats it. I hoped to find at least one machine but I didn't.
ID was everywhere but unfortuneatly, I had no experience with v2 at the time.
I decided to try my hand at SvC Chaos and I managed quite a few wins surprisingly.
It was fun watching irohazaka in v2 right after visiting Irohazaka mountain.
Yeah, we went to tokyo after the visit to irohazaka.

I would like to include one point of my trip before I goto bed at 10:32am
Fast food kicks ass.
I was walking alone ironically around 10:32PM and was gettin' hungry.
I stop and look at this display case featuring noodles + fried goodies with numbers beside. I thought this would be an easy way to get food, since I don't know japanese. I go in and theres a frikken machine in which to punch the numbers in. You put your order, put in like $2 worth of coins and get a receipt.
You give the receipt to the chef and he makes it for you, fast!!
so efficient.
That reminds, everything is easy in Japan, like if I wanted to order anything, there would at least be some numbers beside it so you know what you're getting, also lots of pictures. When I think about it in a Canadian setting, this common curtousey is not found.
