Masaki discusses いろは坂
Quote:Sasuke asks : Hi, I'm from Singapore and would like to ask a few questions for MSK, Herbert and other Iro experts. Up to now, my record is only a 2'59"9 and it looks as if I cannot improve any more. I'd like to know where my mistakes are and what are the Ver2 and Ver 3 differences? Do you need to feint on Irohazaka? Hope everyone can help me
Herbert : needs to use feint and the eraser
Masaki: Theory wise, Ver 2 and ver 3 are the same. Follow the driving line is most important because there are many turns and you will reap the rewards if you follow the line.
The parts that are not the same theory wise, is that the speed is much slower and so feinting each and every turn will have a seeable improvement but feinting too much will easily cause the rear to hit the wall and so you have to take into account your angle of entry into a corner. If your corner entry angle is too "in" then exiting will easily rape the outer wall. Finally, regarding the new technique on eraser, on Iro for example, CP3 second corner and CP4 3rd corner from the end and the final corner can be used. On average each corner can be 1-2km faster on exit
M.S.K> Line is the basic technique for racing and closing on the apex is Irohasaka's line, which is also its basic technique. So whether you feint or not, following the line is the most important. Regarding CP3s first jump, I personally use hitting the apex to clear it, although it reduces on time, the difficulty is very high and so its better to learn the basics of line before attempting. Also, on Irohazakas eraser, due to the sharpness of the turn, even if you do use eraser, you still need to let go of the gas.
ISLEVO> The first jump, with 4th gear entry hitting the apex, I think you can get 89km/h exit if I remember correctly |
