[FAQ] About Tournament Format
In most competitions today, the two main formats are Round Robin and Double Elimination
Double Elimination
Double elimination is the best way to determine who is #1 by giving everyone two chances.
Once you lose twice, you're out of the tournament.
Using this as an example (8 people playing)
1) Starting off, everyone is placed like this.
2) Once everyone is done their first game, they go like this. If you win, you go Left (winner's bracket), if you lose, you go right (loser's bracket).
3) Next step is like this, if you lose in the winner's bracket (left), you move to the loser's bracket (right)
4) After everything is done, it should look like this
Left blue circle = loser's semi-final (loser of this takes 4th place)
Right blue circle = winner's final
5) This is what it will look like in the end.
B battles C in the loser's final.
C loses so he gets 3rd place.
B battles G in the Grand Final.
B wins the battle and takes first place.
G gets 2nd place.
Results will be like this:
1) B
2) G
3) C
4) E
TIE
5) A
5) H
TIE
7) D
7) F
*If A and H want to battle each other to see who is 5th place and who is 6th place, they can do that.

Round Robin
Round Robin is the fairest situation but it takes too much time if there are lots of people, like when there is more than 8.
In this format, everyone battles everyone and whoever has the most wins is the winner, 2nd most is 2nd place etc.
This usually doesn't happen because it will take too long.
